The Republic of Kenya is a country in Eastern Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest, with the Indian Ocean running along the southeast border. Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya. Founded in 1899, the city was handed capital status from Mombasa in 1905. It is also the capital of the Nairobi Province. The city lies on the Nairobi River, in the south of the nation. Nairobi has the highest urban population in East Africa. Since its foundation as a railway camp in 1899, Nairobi has grown to become the largest city in Kenya, and one of the largest cities in Africa. Country Code: 254
