Pitcairn Islands

The Pitcairn Islands, officially named the Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie, and Oeno Islands, are a group of four islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. The islands are a British overseas territory (formerly British colony), the last remaining in the Pacific. Only Pitcairn Island — the second largest — is inhabited. The fertile soil of the Pitcairn valleys produces a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including citrus, sugarcane, watermelons, bananas, yams, and beans. This tiny economy exists on fishing, subsistence farming, and handicrafts, with barter an important part of the economy. Adamstown is the only settlement of the Pitcairn Islands, and by default, the capital of the Pitcairn Islands. It is located on the central north of the island and has a population of about 45. Adamstown currently holds the record for the smallest capital in the world, yet it still has access to television, internet, and telephone lines. Country Code: 64
