Angra dos Reis

Angra dos Reis is a city located in the southwest of Rio de Janeiro state, in Brazil. It is situated 151km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. It has a beautiful coastline with 365 islands. Brazil's only operational nuclear power station (the Central Nuclear Almirante Álvaro Alberto) is located here. Municipal boundaries are with: North: Bananal and São José do Barreiro Northeast: Rio Claro East: Mangaratiba West: Parati South: Atlantic Ocean The most important economic activities are commerce, fishing, industry, services and tourism. The port has an oil terminal as well as shipbuilding (Keppel Fels, former Verolme). Brazil's only nuclear power stations, Angra I and Angra II are located nearby. They employ 3,000 people, and generate another 10,000 indirect jobs in Rio de Janeiro State. Tourism is highly developed with countless beaches, islands and pristine waters perfect for swimming or scuba diving.
