Gurupi

is a city and a municipality in the Brazilian state of Tocantins. The estimated population was 75,287 inhabitants in 2005, the third-largest in the state, and the total area of the municipality was 1,836 kmª. The elevation is 400 meters in the city. It is located in the south of the state of Tocantins, between latitude 11 and 12, 245 km. from Palmas, the recently built capital of this state that was formed from the state of Goiás.
