Kabul

Kabul (Pashto/Persian: کابل) is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the east of the country and the capital of the province, Kabul city, is also the capital of Afghanistan. Once considered one of the most educated and beautiful cities in the world (in the early 13th century) it has since been demolished in heavy wars and strong political movements and invasions of foreign powers. Kabul is situated at an elevation of about 1800m (about 5900 ft) making it one of the highest capital cities in the world. It's also one of the country's most cosmopolitan cities and is the center of government.
