HaldwaniHaldwani or Haldwani-Kathgodam (Hindi: हल्द्वानी ) is a city and a municipal board in Nainital District in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It one of the most populous towns in Uttarakhand, and is known as the "Gateway of Kumaon". In Kumaoni (the local dialect), the place is called "Halduvani", after the tree named "Haldu" which was found in abundance prior to deforestation for agriculture and settlement. Kathgodam is a satellite town of Haldwani.
